Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is Burma’s best known political prisoner. However, there are more than 2,000 prisoners whose stories are not known, even inside Burma.
Here are the stories of three political prisoners – Ko Pyone Cho, Ma Nilar Thein and Ma Mie Mie. In November 2008 each of them was sentenced to 65 years in prison after they led marches in protest against the government’s overnight increase in basic commodity prices.
Through interviews with former fellow prisoners we learn the conditions they lived through during their previous imprisonment. The film also shows how all three have had to cope with great personal crisis in their families. Yes despite all difficulties and repeated imprisonment, each activist is determined to carry on and fight for human rights and democracy.
